After a day of sightseeing in Washington D.C, a meal at Vola’s Dockside Grill was a great way to end the day. The restaurant is right next to the Potomac river in Alexandria, VA, and the view from the tables is stunning! You can see the many boats docked, and the city lights are visible as well. Although we didn’t sit outside, the restaurant has many outdoor seats that would be perfect for a summer day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and recommended some dishes for us to try. The food was also served quickly.
The items on the menu were mostly seafood, with a few exceptions. For the appetizer, we ordered conch fritters, which were suggested by our server. I thought that these were such a unique addition to the menu, as I had rarely seen conch served at restaurants in this area. It was an interesting snack, and I definitely recommend trying it sometime! We ordered a few entrees, but my favorites were the Dockside Fish Tacos and the Sailor Style Mussels. Both were very flavorful and delicious! They were seasoned well and came with a choice of sides (garlic bread, seasoned fries, or chips). The two desserts we tried were their Bread Pudding and their Signature Red Hot Apple Cobbler. After having such a huge meal, I was hesitant to try the desserts, but I’m so glad that I decided to try them! The presentation of both desserts was beautiful, and the taste was just as good.
Vola’s Dockside Grill was a wonderful place to eat at, and if you are ever in the area, you should definitely stop by and try a few of their dishes. The waterfront location, the friendly staff, and the scrumptious food all make for a great experience.
